At the beginning, I was in it for the link exchanges. It wasn't until I had significant inbound links and a decent pagerank that I was able to monetize the site. Definitely something every web entrepreneur goes through in the beginning. Unless of course you have VC funds to grow with pure paid traffic. Great post.
